Eifuku-ji Temple Daijo Ceremony
The Eifuku-ji Daijo-e Ceremony is a Buddhist service held on April 11th and 12th to commemorate the death of Prince Shotoku. Pilgrims from all over Japan come to pay their respects.

Taishi Lantern Festival
We hope that the lights, which respect Prince Shotoku’s “harmony” spirit and wish for the happiness of the people who visit Taishi Town, will lead to the development of an attractive town and the revitalization of the town. The Taishi Lantern Festival was started with the thoughts of the local people who love Taishi Town.
About 10,000 lanterns are arranged carefully one by one every year with the cooperation of many local volunteers. In addition, the lantern cups lined up at Eifuku-ji Temple are accompanied by the “words” of the sponsors, illuminating the spring night with a gentle light.
At Taishi Nagomi no Hiroba, there will be stage performances such as Japanese drum performances and acoustic live performances.

Karakawa Firefly Evening
In the early summer, Karakawa (about 300m upstream from Taishi Onsen), which flows through Taishi Town, holds an evening of Karakawa and firefly viewing parties.
Fireflies that shine as it gets dark from dusk. Many people look forward to seeing fireflies every year.
The Karakawa River, which runs through Taishi Town, is designated as a protected area, and every year members of the Karakawa Firefly Preservation Association conduct weeding and cleaning activities in the Karakawa River to create an environment where fireflies can live.
In order to protect the beautiful environment where you can meet many fireflies, let’s follow the rules of firefly viewing at the venue!

Shinaga Shrine Summer Festival
An annual festival is held at Shinaga Shrine on Sundays between July 24th and 30th every year.
This is the only summer festival in this area where portable shrines and danjiri festivals are held. One danjiri from each of the five town councils is displayed, and the young people bravely pull it around to the energetic music.
At the shrine, festivals such as Sanbaso and Hachisha Taiko are held.

The Grape Festival is held at the roadside station “Chikatsu Asuka no Sato / Taishi” during the season of grapes, the specialty of Taishi Town, to express our gratitude to our customers.
In addition to grapes such as Delaware, Kyoho, Pione, and Shine Muscat, there are special sales of fresh vegetables and Taishi-cho specialties.

The Tondabayashi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Taishi Branch Summer Festival with Taishi Shotoku Market is held every year on the second Saturday of August at the parking lot of the Taishi Town Hall.
Lottery draws and Bon festival dances are held, and it is crowded with many people.

Takenouchi Road Lantern Festival
Taishi Town’s autumn event “Takenouchi Kaido,” which is said to be Japan’s oldest public road (national highway) and was designated as a Japan Heritage site in 2017. Lantern Festival”.
Ise Lanterns and Jizodo along the Takenouchi Highway.
It was started to inherit the liveliness and tasteful appearance brought about by the culture of coming and going.
Townspeople dressed as old people related to Taishi Town parade through the streets, concerts at old private houses, galleries under the eaves, and many other fun events held by the local residents.

A year in Taishi-machi begins with the first climb on New Year’s Day.
Every year, many people aim for the summit of Mt. Nijo to see the first sunrise of the year from the Nara side.

An open-air market is held on the 3rd Sunday of every month at Taishi Nagomi no Hiroba. (*April, August, October and November are held together with other events in the town)
Various shops such as food and drink, clothing, shoes, flowers, vegetables, padding, handmade accessories, etc.
The Taishi Shotoku Market Executive Committee aims to create a lively, bright and harmonious city through the open-air market.
